Harry Maguire’s controversial goal was allowed to stand despite a handball in the build up as Manchester United’s clash was thrown into VAR chaos
Manchester United and Ipswich Town’s Premier League clash has been thrown into VAR chaos after a controversial handball decision.
The Red Devils had found themselves behind against the Tractor Boys as they looked to bounce back from an opening day loss to Hull City. However, five minutes before half-time, Bruno Fernandes fired Michael Carrick’s side level.
And the Red Devils emerged from in the second half as the better team, with Bryan Mbeumo missing a golden chance to send them ahead. However, it was Harry Maguire that fired them ahead of his controversial strike was allowed to stand following a lengthy VAR check.
Maguire had won the ball back for the Red Devils, before attempting to fire his shot into the far corner. And it took a deflection off Jacob Greaves on its way through and into the back of the net.
