Arsenal have reached a transfer agreement on deadline day as a fee has been agreed and contract details emerge after Mikel Arteta green lighted the move
Arsenal have reached a transfer agreement on deadline day as Mikel Arteta green lights a move late in the window.
The Gunners have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the loan signing of Ethan Nwaneri. The 19-year-old winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille and the Islington-born talent is now set to head out on a temporary deal again to continue his development.
It’s believed the academy product will head to the Bundesliga in a straightforward loan with the German giants paying a package valued at around £4.28million. This will encompass Dortmund covering his wages and stumping up for a loan fee, according to Sky Sports Germany.

Nwaneri’s move to France last campaign was a challenging one as he managed just 11 outings in all competitions, chipping in with two goals and one assist. Despite his underwhelming campaign across the Channel, the Gunners were determined for him to secure another loan this summer and had no intention of selling him.
The club were also excited about him linking up with Dortmund as the Englishman will get the chance to sample Champions League football, something he was denied last season after Marseille were surprisingly eliminated from the competition at the group stage.
Nwaneri had been touted for moves to Turkish outfit Galatasaray and AC Milan, but a switch to either club failed to materialise. The 19-year-old caught the eye during pre-season with his displays and earned plaudits from Mikel Arteta following the friendly encounter against Como.
At the time, Arteta said: “He’s been really good. Probably what happened on the field, on his loan in Marseille, wasn’t what was expected.
“There was a lot of noise and change around the club. But he looks different. He looks more mature. He’s incredible at that. It’s what six months can do to you.
“It’s a different experience on board to be on your own, to go through tough times and just to witness that there’s another part of football that you have to be good enough to cope with. I’m very happy with what he’s done in pre-season.”
Arteta had also previously expressed his desire for Nwaneri to stay at Emirates Stadium, but equally acknowledged the youngster requires regular playing time.
Nwaneri boasts 51 Arsenal appearances, with the majority coming during the 2024-25 season. He featured 37 times that campaign, netting nine goals and providing two assists for the north London outfit.
Following Noni Madueke’s arrival from Chelsea the subsequent summer, Nwaneri managed just 12 outings across all competitions the following year, before heading to Marseille on loan last January.
