Four people have appeared before the court charged with murder following the stabbing death of a newborn baby girl, known only as Baby S, in Sheffield.
Two men and two women were held in custody on Wednesday after being presented at the city’s magistrates’ court. They stand accused of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice by taking measures to hide the killing of an infant.
A 15-year-old girl, who cannot be identified due to legal restrictions related to her age, has been charged with perverting the course of justice. Police were summoned to the Wincobank area on Sunday morning following reports expressing concern for the safety of an infant.
Upon searching a property in Holywell Heights, officers discovered the baby. A forensic post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be stab wounds.
Police announced that Andrea Skopova, 20, Peter Horvath, 19, Peter Horvath, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37, were charged with three offences including murder on Tuesday evening.
Horvath Jnr, Horvath Snr and Horvathova, all residing at Holywell Heights, along with Skopova, formerly of Robey Street, Grimesthorpe, Sheffield, made their appearance at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Two women, aged 26 and 37, who were apprehended on suspicion of murder continue to remain on bail.
