Manchester United have completed their summer transfer window revamp under Michael Carrick with an overhaul at Old Trafford – here’s a full list of the ins and outs
Manchester United’s summer transfer window is over with Michael Carrick’s side enduring a very frustrating and quiet deadline day.
On a day of huge drama elsewhere, United were desperate to bolster their left-back position but now must make do with just England veteran Luke Shaw. After failing to land Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, they decided against signing Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas. Meanwhile, Leicester’s 18-year-old midfielder Louis Page was a player that United were working to secure, but that deal was not finalised.
Joshua Zirkzee will be staying at United after the forward flop missed out on moves to Fiorentina, Juventus and then out of the blue, Everton. A loan departure for Chido Obi could still be wrapped up with clubs in the Netherlands and Denmark showing interest. Their windows close on Wednesday, September 2, reports the Manchester Evening News.

United did look at completing a sensational last-minute deal for Manchester City full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. They were informed by his agent that he could be available, but United only wanted to take him on a season-long loan while the Blues wanted to include an obligation to buy as well. For this reason, the deal fell through.
Ultimately, the Red Devils spent less than newly-promoted Ipswich Town in the summer transfer window as they prepare for their return to the Champions League. Their total spend was £152m – with the Tractor Boys spending £171m. Meanwhile, United recouped nearly £60m.
