The furious man knifed a stranger outside takeaway shop before fleeing the scene and hiding the weapon.
A “reckless” knifeman left his victim in a coma after flying into a rage while queuing for a kebab. Kris Stimson, 44, was waiting for his food inside the city centre takeaway when he heard someone ring the bell on his e-scooter outside.
He went outside and confronted a man he wrongly believed had rang his bell. Stimson then pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the stomach before fleeing the scene and dumping the weapon.
Armed cops found Stimson nearby and had to use Pava spray to incapacite him before they could arrest him. Heroic passersby tried to stop the victim’s bleeding after the knife horror, before paramedics arrived and rushed him to hospital for treatment.
The unnamed victim underwent surgery and was placed in an induced coma, police said. He required further treatment for several weeks before being discharged.
Stimson, from Peterborough, Cambs., admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm without intent and possession of a knife in public. He was jailed for 16 months at Cambridge Crown Court.
DC John Pentney said: “Stimson’s shocking actions were completely disproportionate for something as trivial as the bell being used on his scooter.
“Stabbing someone like this is extremely reckless and we could easily have been dealing with a murder investigation.
“I would like to commend the members of the public who stemmed the victim’s bleeding while waiting for paramedics to arrive. Their actions could well have contributed to him surviving.”
