The Premier League transfer window slammed shut on Tuesday, along with most of western Europe, but there are still countries around the world that can attract players from these shores.
Transfer deadline day in England saw more record deals as Enzo Fernandez stole the headlines when he became the first player to be transferred twice for over £100million when he joined Manchester City from Chelsea for a club record £125m fee.
The transfer window also closed across Spain, Italy, France and Germany, with several Premier League stars making moves to the continent on deadline day.
Gabriel Jesus joined Barcelona for £8.6m while Marc Guiu joined RB Leipzig from Chelsea for £14.6m, Harvey Elliott made the move to Spain to join Valencia on loan from Liverpool for the season and Nick Woltemade swapped Newcastle for Juventus for the campaign.
However, some major players are still active in the window, including the Saudi Pro League, where Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli is set to join Al-Hilal after the 25-year-old jetted in for a medical to seal his £55.7m switch ahead of Saudi’s incredibly late transfer window close on October 12.
Another popular destination this summer, not just for all-inclusive holidays, Turkey has welcomed the likes of Mohamed Salah, Rafael Leao and Leandro Trossard.
And Super Lig clubs can still make signings until Friday, September 4, offering what has become an enticing transfer destination in recent years for fringe and older players looking to still land a big payday without leaving Europe.
An anomaly in major European leagues, Portuguese top-flight clubs can continue to make club-to-club transfers until September 15, meaning the likes of Porto, Benfica and Sporting CP can still make signings.
Also in western Europe, Belgian clubs can still make signings until 11pm BST tonight, with their window closing on Thursday, September 3.
Around the world, Brazil’s deadline is September 11, meaning they can still attract players looking for fresh starts, even if Palmeiras had to distance themselves from Jadon Sancho links, calling the speculations ‘madness’ that they wanted to sign the free agent.
Also on the same day, Mexico closes its window; however, the brightest Mexican talent’s future is yet to be resolved with 17-year-old World Cup hero Gilberto Mora yet to agree a transfer to Europe, although it was not possible this summer due to him being under 18. The midfielder is certainly one to keep an eye on in January when he will be old enough to move to a new club.
Finally, the Swiss Super League window keeps its window open until September 8, where the likes of Young Boys and Basel can make any last-ditch signings to bolster their bid to return to Europe next season.
