Horrified mum buys new gown for Ibiza vacation and is disgusted by what she finds inside

A horrified mum has sworn off shopping at Shein for life after claiming that a USED thong and a pantyliner fell out of her new dress while unboxing the order on camera.

Kate Greevy had ordered new items from the online retailer in preparation for a three-night girls’ getaway to Ibiza. The 42-year-old decided to film a haul of all her holiday clothes when she claims to have made the unexpected discovery while unpacking a long green dress.

Footage shows the mum-of-three holding up the £17 garment to the camera before a black object drops from the bottom of the clothing.

The stay-at-home mum initially believed the item had come with a free pair of knickers, but upon closer inspection said the thong was ‘stained and contained a pantyliner’.

Mum of three Kate was appalled by the discovery

Horrified, Kate immediately went to discard the ‘dirty’ thong – describing the discovery in her dress as ‘disgusting’. Kate believes the incident is testament to Shein’s ‘poor’ quality checks and has since returned her whole order, vowing never to shop with the retail giant again.

Kate, from Kenilworth, Warwickshire, said: “I’m going to Ibiza for a girls’ holiday with a friend so I bought about 12 things from Shein and was trying them on.

“We just needed a few cheap items to wear in Ibiza and then probably throw away. My kids keep telling me to film ‘get ready with me’ videos so when the Shein parcel came, I did it. It was the first one I’d ever done.

“I ordered a long ankle dress that looked really nice. I didn’t get much of a chance to look at it before this happened.

“[When something fell out] I thought it was pants that had come with it, but that threw me a bit because I’d never ordered anything before that came with pants.

“I thought ‘it must be see-through’, then I saw there was a stain on them. I don’t wear thongs. People were saying I’d planted them, but I’m 42 with three children; thongs just aren’t for me anymore.

“It was just disgusting; I used a plastic bag to touch them. Shein actually has an option that says ‘found foreign object’ in my parcel.”

Kate believes the mishap was a ‘genuine mistake’ but says the incident has put her off buying with the retailer again.

The underwear fell out as she showed off the dress

Kate said: “I just don’t think their quality-checking for their returns is very good. I don’t know how the girl didn’t realise she’d taken her pants off with it.

“I genuinely don’t know what’s happened. I think it’s a genuine mistake where she’s pulled [her pants] off while taking [the dress] off.

“You shouldn’t expect to have something like that, especially from such a delicate area. After I disinfected my hands, I sent everything back. Now I’ve seen that, I couldn’t keep them.

She claims she found used underwear and a pantyliner inside

“I was going to keep a lovely dress but couldn’t do it. It’s put me off ordering them a bit. I doubt I’ll order from them again.”

A SHEIN spokesperson said: “SHEIN is committed to providing our customers with high-quality products and a positive shopping experience.

“Where appropriate, returned products that meet our quality standards may be made available for resale, helping to keep garments in use and reduce unnecessary waste.

She’s vowed not to shop with Shein again

“We have taken immediate steps to review the processes involved and strengthen our checks to help prevent this recurring. We have also contacted the customer directly to apologise for this distressing experience and have offered a full refund for her order.”
