A UK influencer has died after undergoing a botched penis enlargement surgery, a coroner has revealed that the cosmetic treatment caused a fatal pulmonary embolism
An influencer nicknamed ‘Tiny’ has tragically died after a penis enlargement operation in Thailand at the age of 43. The post-mortem examination disclosed that the aesthetic procedure led to a lethal embolism.
British-Nigerian entrepreneur Igho Ubiribo was enjoying a lavish holiday in Thailand with his wife when he died. According to an inquest at Inner West London Coroners’ Court, Ubiribo had 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine injected into his penis at an undisclosed Thai clinic in March.
After the operation, the influencer and his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, went for a massage during which Ubiribo experienced chest discomfort and fainted twice. The couple were residing at a Marriott hotel in Bangkok.
Ubiribo was rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital in an ambulance and was initially conscious, reports the Mirror US.
His wife informed the medical team about the cosmetic treatment, but before the recommended CT scan could be carried out, Ubiribo lost consciousness.
Doctors concluded Ubiribo had suffered a pulmonary embolism, a clot obstructing a blood vessel in the lungs, and transferred him to intensive care. Despite over 100 minutes of CPR, he passed away in the early hours of March 6.
A UK post-mortem discovered cellular material in his lungs, consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the cosmetic procedure.
Dr Thongchai Chansirirattingkul, from Sukhumvit Hospital, explained: “He had had two cases of syncope (fainting) earlier, when he was having a massage. He had had 40 milliliters of penile filler injections earlier that day.”
The influencer’s London-based GP also disclosed that Ubiribo had undergone joint surgery, was pre-diabetic and battled gout but had no other health complications, according to the Daily Mail.
Boasting more than 100,000 Instagram followers, Ubiribo was renowned for his lavish way of life. He possessed a $1.1 million property in Los Angeles’ Crenshaw district and a $600,000 flat in London.
His spouse works as a fashion designer and socialite, with the pair exchanging vows in a glamorous ceremony in Zimbabwe in 2022.
Ubiribo was laid to rest in London within a golden casket reportedly valued at more than $745,000. Attendees at his service included his lifelong mate and Nigerian afrobeat sensation Davido, celebrity bartender Cubana Chief Priest, and Pastor Tobi Adegboyega.
During the service, Davido remarked: “I won’t lie, it is not easy when someone like Tiny leaves. His absence is heavy; it doesn’t feel real. A man of so much energy, so much presence. The silence is heavy. He is not someone I ever thought I would be speaking about in the past tense.”
Hyaluronic acid penis fillers cost up to $9,000 and typically last six to nine months. Numerous urology specialists have emphasised their potentially hazardous effects.
