The US President totally lost it during a press interview after ABC’s Rachel Scott asked about $5,000 cheques he promised Americans – as he furiously moved closer to her face and yelled: “Not you”
Fuming Donald Trump completely lost it during a press interview following a straightforward question from a female reporter. The angry US president leaned towards the journalist’s face and yelled “Not you” live on air.
ABC’s Rachel Scott had asked about the $5,000 (£3,700) payments Trump pledged to every American adult should Republicans secure victory in the midterm elections.
During the live broadcast, she stated: “If your economic policies are working, why do you need an incentive for people to turn out to vote?”
Trump said: “I didn’t do it for turning out the vote, I did it as a reward for people having to put up with five years and four years of horrible, a horrible situation caused by [Joe] Biden.”
Dodging a direct answer, he then unleashed an attack on former president Biden. The journalist attempted to ask again about Trump’s tariff rebate cheques – but rather than respond, he interrupted her and barked: “Not you!”
Trump then bent down to the same height as the woman and moved close to her face, before yelling: “Hey, not you.”
The confrontational clip surfaced on Thursday, when the 80-year-old addressed reporters while departing Dallas following his two-day Republican midterm gathering, reports the Express.
Even as another journalist began speaking, the US President made it apparent he hadn’t finished with Rachel as he turned towards her and stated: “Your network and you, you’re the worst.”
Viewers were left shocked by Trump’s response, with one commenting: “I despise the people that voted for this clown and found this personality to be presidential.”
Another stated: “Trump looked and sounded like a demon ready to attack her. You could see it in the hatred and rage on his face.”
A third wrote: “This was f***ing bizarre.” Another viewer penned: “What a vile, disgusting excuse for anything like a president, and we put up with this s***.”
This marks yet another occasion when Trump has erupted at a journalist, having previously marched out of an NBC Meet the Press interview with Kristen Welker following a row about election fraud.
Trump grew noticeably agitated after he was challenged on plans to advance the $1.8 billion “anti-weaponisation” fund, leading to a heated exchange about his 2020 election loss being “rigged”.
The president exploded and said: “They’re crooked just like you’re crooked, your press is crooked.” He added: “And Meet the Press is crooked.”
Trump continued: “Your elections are crooked, and you’re crooked, and Meet The Press is crooked, and so is ABC and CBS and CNN, your one-sided crooked networks, right?” before rising and marching off camera.
