NFL legend Aaron Rodgers has launched a scathing attack on his ex-fiancée after she said “I gotta go f*** this guy” days after they were engaged
NFL icon Aaron Rodgers has launched a scathing attack on his ex-fiancée – who asked if she could sleep with another man just two days after they became engaged.
Rodgers, who is still playing at 42, has hit out at Shailene Woodley on the eve of the new NFL season. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarter-back hasn’t been shy about speaking on his private life – and he’s now opened up about how two high-profile romances came to an end.
“I dated two women [Danica Patrick and Shailene] whom nobody gives a f*** about unless they drop my name,” Rodgers revealed to Steelers colleague Cam Heyward on the Not Just Football with Cam Heyward podcast.

“And they like to tell their version of the history of what actually happened, making me out to be this monster of a partner. And it’s just f****** horse***.”
Rodgers detailed how his romance with Shailene, who he dated between 2020 and 2022, crumbled after the actress told him she wished to sleep with another man before their wedding.
“And I propose, and she says yes. She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision – she could have said no – but a couple of days after that, she tells me before we get married, ‘I gotta go f*** this guy’,” Rodgers said, reports the Mirror US.
“She told me that, took off the ring by March (I proposed in December), and we had a couple of times where we tried to reunite, but nothing ever happened. There wasn’t even a relationship in 2022 to break up. She literally told me, ‘I don’t want to be with you.'”.
Rodgers’ romance with Shailene came straight after his two-year stint with Danica, a former IndyCar Series and NASCAR driver, came to an end. In that case, it was Rodgers who called time after Danica floated the idea of them buying a Malibu property together.
“I dated Danica, and she had just retired; she was depressed and not fun to be around, but I didn’t leave her because I was trying to be there and be a good partner.
“There was no intimacy; there was nothing. I’m buying a house in Malibu, and she goes, ‘Well, do you want to buy it together?’ And I said, ‘No.’ She said, ‘Well, you know what that means then?’
“I said, ‘Yeah, that’s the way things are going.’ She said, ‘Well, let’s get counselling.’ So then we got counselling, and then what happened? Then COVID hit and we were stuck together.”
In a May 2025 appearance on The Sage Steele Show, Danica candidly discussed their break-up, describing it as “the most amount of pain” she had ever experienced, and characterising the relationship as “emotionally abusive.”
On the other hand, Shailene described the period after their split as the “darkest, hardest time” that felt like existing in “a pain bubble” during a 2023 interview with Net-a-Porter.
