A content creator has been arrested after she allegedly used a sex toy on a child during a viral livestream. Anulika Onyeanusia, 36, is being investigated by police on suspicion of child pornography and sexual abuse involving a minor.
Her husband has been quizzed following her arrest on Thursday (September 10) and four children in the couple’s care have been removed, police say.
Onyeanusia is accused of using different children in explicit content during a private livestream, after social media clips of internet users calling for her arrest went viral.
The alleged incident occurred in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. Sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were found at the home, police say.
Police superintendent Mr Ikenga said officers also removed four children, aged two, three, six and nine, during the operation. A police spokesperson said: “The suspect is currently in police custody as the Command intensifies its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and the possible involvement of other persons.
“The husband of the suspect is also undergoing interrogation to determine whether he has any connection with the alleged offence.”
Mr Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Nnanna Ama, was “deeply disturbed” by the alleged act.
Anambra police commended individuals in the local area such as bloggers and residents who passed information to authorities leading to the arrest.
Police said they will work with relevant child-protection authorities and support agencies to ensure the children effected receive the necessary care following the incident.
The force assured the identities and the privacy of the children involved in the alleged crime will be protected during the police investigation.
