Strictly fans worried about the new format have been told to “get over it” by judge Craig Revel Horwood.
Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe take over the reigns next week and telly’s most entertaining judge reckons “it’s different in a really fantastic way. It’s breathing new life into the show.”
The sharp tongued Australian added: “I love Emma Willis. She’s a good listener and a good reactor. Josh, together with her, is a little bit haphazard, which is great. It’s sort of chalk and cheese”
And CRH expects to get as good as he gives from Widdicombe: “I think he’s going to be giving me what for. I’m sure he’ll be going for the jugular with me.”
He also thinks Radebe will offer fresh insight in his new role: “The beauty of the three is that Johannes [Radebe] is so proficient in dance that he’ll be able to ask proper dance questions. We’ve never had a presenter on the show who’s a trained dancer.”
Horwood is television’s favourite host but despite his legendary barbs he doesn’t consider himself rude.
“I’m honest. I’m only telling them the truth. I’m there to criticise and hopefully to make them better the following week. That’s the whole point of being a judge.”
Perhaps it’s something to do with his Aussie roots: “Because I think we’re more direct in Australia. Australians will say no – well, they’ll say a lot worse.”
Horwood recently admitted he tried Botox for the first time last year, although he’s very particular with how procedure.
“I said: ‘I have to raise my eyebrow, because if I can’t do that I won’t be Craig Revel Horwood from Strictly ’.”
