The last tour was championed as their best ever, but there’s still a whole lot of Oasis classics and rarities the Gallaghers DIDN’T play in 2025, here’s what they might revive for next year
It’s less than a year since Oasis wrapped up their last tour and they’ve already announced another run of massive gigs for 2027.
For many the Live 25 dates were the best concerts of all time, featuring the ultimate fan favourite singalongs on their set list. The songs they played drew heavily from the first two record breaking albums, and audiences have begun to wonder how they could possibly improve on that memorable set which they never deviated from?
Seeing as Oasis didn’t play anything from their last few studio LPs there’s plenty of material that the lads could dig out and Oasis aficionados know a few others that deserve to get an airing next summer.
Here’s a look at the Top 10 anthems Oasis DIDN’T play in 2025 and might consider dusting off for the Live ’27 shows.
COLUMBIA
One of the band’s more hypnotic’s old school Manchester anthems from Definitely Maybe, Columbia was rehearsed extensively for the 25 dates but never ended up getting played to an audience. Named after the Columbia Hotel in London, a notorious 1990s hangout where Noel Gallagher spent boozy nights while working as a roadie for Inspiral Carpets, Oasis have perform it over 200 times live but not since Glastonbury Festival in 2004.
SHE’S ELECTRIC
A love letter to the Beatles this song was intended for debut album, Definitely Maybe but got replaced by Digsy’s Dinner in the end. Noel admits he nicked part of the tune from Sesame Street and it eventually ended up on (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? and has the honour of being one of only two non official singles to become a hit, this one going 2x platinum.
She’s Electric was last played live on November 14, 2002, at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, and sung live by Noel as Liam generally avoided it due to the high falsetto notes.
SHAKERMAKER
The first song the band ever performed on Top Of The Pops, this No11 hit is most famous for getting Oasis into legal trouble. Noel Gallagher ‘borrowed’ the melody for the verses directly from I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony), a 1971 hit by The New Seekers that became more famous as the Coca-Cola jingle. Oasis last played Shakermaker in 2001, at the Caracas Pop Festival in Venezuela.
STOP CRYING YOUR HEART OUT
A fan favourite ballad and a No2 hit in 2002, Oasis last performed it in 2005 at the Columbiahalle in Berlin, Germany. Written about a friend going through a hard time it was covered by Leona Lewis on the X Factor final in 2009 and is regularly wheeled out for moments of national or collective reflection. Noel has been known to to play it solo too.
THE SHOCK OF THE LIGHTNING
A high energy rock ‘n’ roll anthem inspired by German Krautrock, when Oasis teased their latest run of concert dates with a film of a drone show over Manchester this was the song they used to soundtrack it (is that a hint?). Last performed at V Festival at Weston Park in Staffordshire – which was the last show they played before splitting up in 2009 – it hit No3 in the UK and was one of the few Oasis to make an impact in the States reaching no11 on the adult rock chart.
THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE
Considered one of Oasis’s finest later-career masterpieces, this was the second single from their sixth studio album, Don’t Believe The Truth, and second No1 in a row after Lyla. Its success marked Oasis’s 19th straight UK Top 10 hit, breaking a consecutive Top10 records previously held by groups like The Beatles and ABBA.
Influenced by the Kinks and the Doors, Noel Gallagher got the title from a book he found while cleaning out his garage.It was last played in 2009.
ALL AROUND THE WORLD
Clocking in at a staggering 9 minutes and 38 seconds on the single release this is officially the longest song (by duration) to ever reach No1. Even though it didn’t come out until 1998, Noel Gallagher actually wrote the song in the early 1990s, before Oasis had even released their debut single.
Both Noel and Liam’s then-wives, Meg Mathews and Patsy Kensit, came into the studio to sing backing harmonies but it’s not been aired live since a gig at Wembley arena in 1997.
LYLA
Designed to be performed live as a massive outdoor anthem, Noel Gallagher once described it as an “annoyingly catchy” track built “specifically for pogoing”. Noel frequently joked in interviews that the fictional Lyla is actually the sister of Sally – the famous character he sung about on 1996’s Don’t Look Back in Anger.
It also broke a major dry spell for Oasis in the US, peaking at No19 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
GO LET IT OUT
Lead single from their fourth studio album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants this was the band’s first single without Bonehead. It still hit No1 in the UK and Ireland, Spain, Italy and even Canada. It was dropped from the live set after 2002 and hasn’t been heard since ut Noel revived it live with High Flying Birds in 2018.
DON’T GO AWAY
Inspired by almost losing their mother Peggy when she was hospitalised for suspected cancer, Liam was reportedly so emotional recording the track he broke down crying.
Last heard on the Be Here Now tour, Noel has given it a solo outing including at a Teenage Cancer Trust gig in 2010.
