UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham will meet with US President Donald Trump for the first time next week, according to reports.
The Times has reported that the meeting is set to take place in New York at the United Nations General Assembly.
The pair are expected to discuss Ukraine, the Middle East and energy.
The two leaders have spoken over the phone, but have not had in-person contact.
Shortly after Burnham became prime minister in July, Trump said that he planned to meet with the UK’s leader.
Trump described as an called as “interesting” and productive.
“I had a very good conversation with the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham,” Trump posted on Truth Social at the time.
“We discussed many subjects, including the outstanding relationship we have had with the UK.
“We will be meeting in the not too distant future for topics of mutual interest.”
The Mirror has approached the UK’s foreign office and Number 10 for comment and details on the reported meeting next week.
