Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have given fans a glimpse into their new life back in the UK in an adorable Instagram post showcasing their new life in the countryside with their two children, Archie and Lilibet
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are settling back into the UK after making the shock decision to return six years after quitting both the country and their roles as senior working royals.
In 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the UK and set up home on Montecito, California, but now they have returned with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
The couple have opted to set up home outside London, in a private, non-royal residence, and their children have been enrolled at local schools.
Harry and Meghan’s return also marks a fresh review of the issue around their security. The BBC reports it is now understood the couple will be allowed a review of their publicly-funded security following their return to the UK.
Ravec, the committee which oversees royal security, is said to be reconsidering the level of police protection Meghan and Harry are entitled to now they are living full-time in the UK, rather than just visiting.
The risks in their new home will be assessed along with any regular travel they take, such as the school run. It comes after Harry and Meghan are said to have already changed the school Archie and Lilibet attend over security concerns during the school run.
While the names of the schools have not been revealed, it is believed Harry and Meghan’s private security team have been worried the heavy traffic on the journey to the children’s original school mean it hard to ensure they were secure.
A source close to the couple said: “The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family. This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”
However, the duke and duchess, along with their children, seem to be settling back into life in the UK. Earlier this week, Meghan posted an adorable birthday message to her husband. She said “Happy birthday, my love [heart emoji]”, set to the song The Hound + The Fox, Simply the Best, along with a number of snap shots of Harry and their family.
And at the weekend, Meghan shared another post highlighting the family’s time back in the UK since they had returned a few weeks ago.
It showed adorable family outings, including Harry fishing with his children on a pond, Lilibet riding her bike while big brother Archie ran along beside her, family walks in the woods and jumping in puddles.
Set to the soundtrack Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham! Meghan also included the Union flag and a red heart emoji – and it seems the social media post reveals exactly how the couple feel about being back in Prince Harry’s home country.
Body language expert Darren Stanton says Harry in particular appears ‘completely in his element’ being back in the lifestyle he grew up with.
Speaking to Betfair Casino, Darren explains: “In terms of their posture, they both seem incredibly chilled and appear to have taken to country life very well. Meghan’s body language suggests that she feels very comfortable in the environment, while Harry seems completely in his element being back in the lifestyle he grew up with. There’s a real lack of tension in both of them, and their movements and overall posture appear very natural and unguarded.
“When Harry was fishing, you could really see that come through in his body language. He appeared genuinely overjoyed to be back home, with a huge, beaming smile throughout. His posture was very relaxed, and there was nothing particularly rigid or controlled about the way he was carrying himself. That’s a good indicator that someone is genuinely enjoying their surroundings rather than simply putting on a performance for the cameras.
“The same can be said for Meghan, whose relaxed posture and overall demeanour suggest she is also feeling very comfortable. Neither of them appears to be displaying any obvious signs of stress or discomfort, and there’s a real sense of ease between them.
“Overall, their body language shows two people who appear completely at ease, happy and settled being back in the UK, with Harry in particular looking like he is thoroughly enjoying being back in familiar surroundings.”
He also highlights the couple’s ‘natural and unguarded’ posture, noting there are no obvious signs of tension, stress or discomfort. Darren says Harry’s ‘huge, beaming smile’ while fishing is a particularly strong indicator that he is genuinely enjoying being back in familiar surroundings.
He also points to Meghan’s relaxed posture and demeanour, saying the couple appear ‘completely at ease’ and ‘settled’ as they embrace a more rural lifestyle.
