However, the win was overshadowed with reports Arsenal are monitoring Rio Ngumoha’s contract situation at Anfield. Speaking on The Athletic, David Ornstein said: “They want to renew his contract. He’s 18 and tied down at Anfield until 2028.

Liverpool have no intention of parting with Rio Ngumoha and are anticipated to table a fresh deal for the 18-year-old. The England international has caught the eye of Bayern Munich throughout the past year following an impressive breakthrough campaign, reports the Mirror.
The winger’s existing agreement runs until 2028, and having turned 18 last month, Ngumoha can now pen a lengthy contract with the Reds, freed from the restrictions that apply to younger talents.
The Athletic suggests that tying down Ngumoha’s long-term future sits high on the Premier League heavyweights’ priority list, with Arsenal amongst the sides monitoring the teenager.

Alexis Mac Allister has revealed he loses his temper with Liverpool’s youngsters in training sessions due to his burning desire to see them flourish.

He said: “It was really important for the young players. They show every single day in training that they want to be here. They work really, really hard and they have quality. I’m really happy for them because they deserve this in training.
“I focus quite a lot on them and I get angry. I think it’s part of me wanting them to succeed. As I said, they’re really good. They have quality, they are intense and they know what the club means. It’s important and they are going to be really important for us this season.”
