Thomas Tuchel has named his first England squad after the World Cup, with three surprise names, after the Three Lions suffered semi-final heartbreak against Argentina.
Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold have both been recalled. However, there was no room in the squad for Phil Foden, Morgan Gibbs-White and Djed Spence – the latter was part of Tuchel’s World Cup squad in the summer.
However, Daily Star Sport is having a look at six players in the squad who could be ready for a big move in January or next summer, like Morgan Rogers whose stunning form for Aston Villa and England earned him a massive £117m switch to Chelsea in July. And we’ll start with Rio Ngumoha, who has emerged as a shock target for Arsenal.
Liverpool have no intention of parting with Rio Ngumoha and are anticipated to table a fresh deal for the 18-year-old. However, a report from The Athletic suggests that Arsenal are keeping tabs on his situation – and could table an offer.
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a return to the Premier League. The full-back departed Anfield last summer, when his contract expired, and moved to Real Madrid.
However, it hasn’t been a dream move for Alexander-Arnold and, over the summer, he was linked with a sensational return to Liverpool in the Spanish media. The former Red has a contract that runs until 2031 – and, as a result, will cost a pretty penny.
Jarrad Branthwaite has been long linked with an exit from Everton – and, on Friday morning, he was linked with a move to Real Madrid.
According to Goal, the Spanish giants are assessing whether a move is realistic. With a major stumbling block coming in the form of although Everton’s valuation, reported at €93m, roughly £79.9m.
Lewis Hall looked like he could be on the move in the summer, with Manchester United desperately scrambling around for a full-back. However, they were unable to come to an agreement with Newcastle.
And a deal might have just become more complicated after Hall penned a new deal last week. He told the club’s website: “I’m absolutely delighted. It’s a really proud moment. It’s an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters.”
United were also linked with Bournemouth sensation Alex Scott in the summer – and as his performances have continued to impress, the Cherries are said to have slapped a £100m valuation on the midfielder.
Chelsea tabled a £64m bid for Scott in the summer, which was turned down. He is currently tied to the club until 2028 and will enter the final year of his deal next summer.
Jarell Quansah is another star who could be set for a return to the Premier League – after retaining his spot in Tuchel’s England squad despite a controversial red card against Mexico.
Last month, Arsenal emerged as suitors for the Bayer Leverkusen while Liverpool have a buy-back clause in Quansah’s Leverkusen contract, worth around £59.8m (€70m).
