A number of emergency services were called to the Travelodge hotel on South Parade in Skegness on Thursday evening following an incident
Emergency services were summoned to a Travelodge hotel on a UK seafront on Thursday evening.
Numerous photos and videos circulating on social media depict two fire engines at the South Parade hotel in Skegness. Initial reports of an incident emerged shortly after 8pm.
Images shared online seem to indicate that a car had crashed into the hotel’s wall. However, this has not been confirmed by either emergency services or hotel management.
No injuries have been reported. Hotel guests have mentioned online that the building was evacuated.
One guest said: “[We went] out for dinner at 6.30pm to come back to the Travelodge at 8pm to find it evacuated and sirens going off. Police, ambulance, and fire engines there.”
“Someone had driven their car through the wall and fire exit.”
South Parade was closed as fire crews were photographed at the Travelodge. However, it appears the closure was related to planned Lincolnshire County Council roadworks on South Parade, rather than being a result of the emergency response.
Photos from the scene show a fire cordon was set up in the hotel’s car park. Emergency personnel can be seen working around the building.
The Travelodge opened in September 2025 with 80 rooms spread over six floors, along with a top-floor bar and restaurant. The controversial development plans were labelled the ‘wrong thing in the wrong place’ by competing hoteliers in the area.
