Essex Police confirmed a woman has died following a two-vehicle crash in the car park of a Tesco back in August, with officers now appealing for witnesses to come forward
A woman has died after a crash in front of horrified shoppers in a Tesco car park, with police now appealing for witnesses.
Two vehicles got into the collision in the car park of the Tesco under the A13 in Pitsea at around 10.30am on Friday, August 21. Police confirmed a passenger in one of the vehicles was rushed to hospital, but it has now transpired that the woman has since died.
Essex Police said no arrests had been made with their investigation currently ongoing. The force said in a statement: “We are appealing for information after a woman injured in a collision in Pitsea last month has, sadly, died in hospital.
“Two vehicles were involved in the collision in the car park area of the Tesco under the A13 at around 10.30am on Friday 21 August.
“A passenger in one of the vehicles was taken to hospital but despite the best efforts of the medical team has, sadly, since died. No arrests have been made and our investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, two Irish holidaymakers have tragically lost their lives in a horrific multi-vehicle crash in South Africa.
The pair were passengers in a Toyota Fortuner involved in a smash-up with two LDVs and an articulated lorry on the D799 Kaapsehoop Road in South Africa on Wednesday, September 16.
The tourists, along with the driver of one of the LDVs, were declared dead at the accident site, according to South African news outlet Lowvelder. Zandile Mavuso, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, reported that a lorry travelling on the D799 Kaapsehoop Road allegedly failed to stop at the intersection, resulting in a collision with three vehicles on the N4 Toll Road.
Martin Jeffrey from Emer-G-Med relayed from the scene that two individuals suffered moderate to severe injuries and were rushed to Kiaat Private Hospital for further medical attention.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the collision, as well as what caused the accident, remain unclear at this stage and will be subject to further investigation,” stated Mavuso.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene following the dreadful collision, leading to a partial road closure for some time.
The Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland confirmed: “The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of this case. Officials at the Embassy of Ireland in Pretoria are in close contact with their British counterparts in support of those affected.”
