National Highways confirmed the M25 has been closed between J23 and J25 after a ‘serious multi-vehicle collision’. An air ambulance has landed along with other emergency services
A major motorway has been forced to close following a “serious multi-vehicle collision, with 999 crews swarming the scene this evening (Monday).
The M25 in Greater London is closed anti-clockwise between J23 and J25 following the crash which was reported shortly after 5pm this evening. Emergency services, including Metropolitan Police, ambulance, fire and National Highways Traffic Officers, are responding at the scene. An air ambulance has also attended.
A serious injury has been confirmed and the anti-clockwise carriageway has been held to allow the air ambulance to land safely at the scene. National Highways said: “The incident is currently in the emergency response phase. Emergency services are managing the scene.
“Once casualty care has been completed, vehicles involved will be recovered and assessments carried out to determine what further work is required before the motorway can safely reopen.”
Given the seriousness of the incident, there is currently no estimate for when the carriageway will reopen.
Diversion Route
Road users are advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol on road signs:
- Exit the M25 J23, at the roundabout take the 5th exit onto A1 towards London
- Follow A1 towards Central London through “Stirling Corner”, “Apex Corner” and “Mill Hill Circus” to “Fiveways Corner”
- Bear left onto A1 to “Henlys Corner”
- At “Henlys Corner” bear left and continue onto the A406 North Circular Road towards “Wood Green”
- Follow the A406 North Circular Road towards Enfield and at “Great Cambridge Junction” take exit slip to roundabout and then 1st exit onto A10 towards Hertford
- Follow the A10 towards Hertford and re-join the M25 at J25, at the roundabout take 3rd exit towards Stansted
There is a height restriction (4.7m) at the A406 Railway Bridge. If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
