Former army officer James Hewitt has previously responded to the rumours that he may be Prince Harry’s real dad due to similarities in their appearance
A former lover of the late Princess Diana is once again the subject of bizarre rumours that he might be Prince Harry’s real dad, despite pouring cold water on the suggestion years ago.
Ex-army officer James Hewitt, who reportedly had a five year relationship with Diana in the 1980s after he was hired to give her horse riding lessons, has long been targeted by the unfounded conspiracy that he may be Harry’s real father due to some people perceiving similarities in their appearance.
But Hewitt, who does admit that the affair with Diana took place, has constantly denied any suggestion that the conspiracy could be true.
He was asked directly on the Australian TV show Sunday Night by host Melissa Doyle about the issue in 2017. She asked, “are you Harry’s father?”, to which he replied “No I’m not.”
Responding to Doyle’s description of the rumour as “heart-breaking”, Hewitt responded: “It’s worse for him, probably. Poor chap.”
The rumour has recently been squashed by a facial analysis expert, who studied the appearance of Harry, Hewitt and the King and came to the conclusion that Charles was certainly Harry’s true father.
Simone Malik, who describes herself as a “super-recogniser”, said: “I can see from the public’s perspective when they look at the ginger hair and their smiles from the side, they have a certain look and they think [Hewitt] is Harry’s dad.
“You have got to understand facial symmetry and dimension and this is what I look at, a bit like a computer but I have the skill to see the face and think ‘this person is related’ or ‘this person is not related,” she added.
“I am quite certain from my skill that King Charles is definitely Harry’s dad. Charles has a narrow and high forehead and Charles has exactly that. Diana also has a narrow forehead. Hewitt’s forehead is wide and deep.”
Interestingly, in his autobiography Spare, Prince Harry admits that his dad King Charles would sometimes acknowledge the apparent similarity, and even crack jokes about who Harry’s real father might be.
He wrote: “Pa liked telling stories, and this was one of the best in his repertoire,” adding that Charles used to joke, “‘Who knows if I’m really the Prince of Wales? Who knows if I’m even your real father? Maybe your real father is in Broadmoor, darling boy!”
