Oksana Antanaitiene was found in a locked office in HMP Chelmsford with a serving male prisoner in August 2025 before an investigation uncovered she had sent sexually explicit images to the inmate
A prison tutor who developed an inappropriate relationship with an inmate sent sexually explicit pictures and even gave him a USB stick full of content which was later discovered in a dressing gown.
An investigation into Oksana Antanaitiene had already commenced when she was discovered in a locked office at HMP Chelmsford with a serving male prisoner in August 2025. The probe later revealed she had engaged in sexual communication with the man through letters, telephone calls and had transmitted sexually explicit photographs.
Antanaitiene’s position at the jail was as a mathematics tutor. She had completed two distinct training programmes covering prison safety, anti-corruption measures and educational delivery within a correctional environment.
The prisoner’s cell was searched on October 22, 2025. During the search, explicit photographs of a woman were discovered. A USB device was also found concealed in a dressing gown.
At an internal meeting the following day, Antanaitiene confessed to establishing the inappropriate relationship and having transmitted photographs to the prisoner.
She also acknowledged providing music and television files to him via a USB drive. During searches of a vehicle and property linked to Antanaitiene, officers uncovered additional items of interest.
Antanaitiene, 51, of Bradleigh Avenue, Grays, was charged with misconduct in a public office in July 2026. She appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, September 22, where she entered a guilty plea.
She was granted bail pending a sentencing hearing at the same court on October 28. DC Matthew Parker, from our Prison Investigations Team, stated: “Antanaitiene held a position of trust within the prison environment and was fully aware of the professional standards and boundaries expected of her.
“Instead, she chose to enter into an inappropriate relationship with a serving prisoner and continued that relationship through repeated contact and the sharing of prohibited items and explicit material.
“Her actions undermined the integrity of the prison system and had the potential to compromise the safety and security of the establishment.”
