Police used a stun gun to subdue a naked 31-year-old man carrying what witnesses described as a machete in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, after he reportedly smashed windscreens and chased pedestrians
A naked man launched a street rampage wielding a machete before police officers brought him down with a taser.
The 31-year-old allegedly leaped onto passing vehicles and shattered windscreens. He also struck street lamps, pursued pedestrians and caused damage to an ambulance. Officers equipped with helmets and shields subdued him using a stun gun.
The dramatic scenes occurred in the city of Bielsko-Biała in southern Poland at approximately 1.30pm on Monday (September 21) earlier this week. He appeared completely nude and extremely agitated in the Wapienica district. Eyewitnesses reported the naked man was brandishing a large blade resembling a machete.
He was slightly bleeding when initially spotted in the road. Video footage captured him sprawled across a car bonnet as a female motorist lurched forwards and backwards attempting to dislodge him.
Police spokesperson Sub-Lt Sławomir Kocur said: “Officers approached him from a safe distance. The man did not respond to any commands. He was quickly overpowered. Officers used a direct coercive measure, which was a stun gun.”
He confirmed no one sustained injuries during the incident. Unofficial local reports suggested he may have been under the influence of drugs at the time.
He subsequently provided incoherent explanations for his behaviour, including claims that he had just departed A&E. Police escorted him to the provincial hospital.
He remained overnight under observation with officers stationed at his bedside. Blood tests were requested. Officers are awaiting his recovery before conducting an interview. Property damage continues to be evaluated by authorities. The probe carries on.
In a separate incident involving a different naked man, disturbing reports emerged of a naked man allegedly performing a lewd act while “doing laps” of an unofficial nudist beach in the UK in July.
Sunbathers at Botany Bay in Broadstairs were outraged by the middle-aged man who was reportedly trying to draw attention to himself.
While the bay is not council-designated as a naturist space, an area of shore and dunes between the main beach and Foreness Point has been used as such for decades.
Describing the “disturbing” experience on social media, one witness said they had been enjoying the picturesque setting on Sunday afternoon when they noticed the man acting strangely.
