Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to meet in the ring later this year – with the Battle of Britain finally announced
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring – with their long awaited bout confirmed for later this year.
The Battle of Britain had been rumoured to be hosted at Madison Square Garden, but an official announcement has confirmed the long awaited bout will take place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on December 11.
The location had been a major stumbling block during negotiations for the hugely anticipated heavyweight clash – and Fury had even taken to social media to call out his rival for delaying the bout. The Gypsy King even teased a trilogy fight with Oleksandr Usyk before a deal was struck.

Taking to social media, Turki Alalshikh shared on X: “For 15 years no one has been able to make this fight. Back in April, I said that any announcement would come from me.
“I can now confirm that Fury Vs Joshua will be coming to the UK, as I promised British boxing fans. The time for talking is over…”
The fight will be broadcast on Netflix and could start in the early hours of Saturday morning in the UK to cater to US television audiences, according to reports.
Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Global Live Sports & Entertainment at Netflix, said: “Fury vs. Joshua is a fight years in the making between two of boxing’s biggest stars.
“It has the rivalry, the stakes and the scale to capture the attention of sports fans around the world. Bringing massive live moments like this to a global audience is exactly what we want to do at Netflix, and we can’t wait for members everywhere to experience it live.”
The duo will meet face-to-face next Wednesday (September 30) for a press conference.
The pair are both British boxing icons, and both have held heavyweight titles in their respective careers. However, until now they are yet to meet in the ring.
“I am inspiring a generation,” Joshua said on social media, sharing a picture of the announcement. Shortly before the announcement, he had posted a picture in front of a Union Jack: “The quietest ones often pull the strings.
“Those who appear least involved may hold the greatest control. Let them shout first, the wisest wait until the final move. Yours truly, Anthony Joshua.”
Early odds suggest Tyson Fury starts as the favourite – with the market also favours the fight ending inside the distance.
Corals’ John Hill said: “Tyson Fury is the clear favourite in the early betting for what promises to be one of the biggest heavyweight clashes in recent years.
“The majority of punters are currently siding with Fury to get the better of Anthony Joshua, but we expect the latter to see his fair share of support before the fight in Cardiff.
