Erling Haaland was expected to be available to speak to the media this weekend before Norway face Portugal in the Nations League on Sunday, but the striker has now been removed from media duties following Man City’s 115 charges verdict
Manchester City’s star forward Erling Haaland has reportedly been pulled from media duties with Norway after the club was found guilty of alleged financial irregularities. Haaland was anticipated to be on hand for media interactions this weekend ahead of Norway’s Nations League clash with Portugal on Sunday.
News broke on Friday suggesting that City had been found culpable on all but one of the 115 charges levelled against them by the Premier League back in 2023. There is now a period of suspense as we await the potential sanctions that could be imposed on City, with the club retaining the right to challenge the verdict from the case.
As a result, City could face penalties ranging from a points deduction to an outright ban from the Premier League.

Haaland is currently serving international duty with the Norway squad during the extended international break and was instrumental on Thursday night, scoring twice to secure a 3-2 victory over Denmark for his country, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The striker was scheduled to engage with the media this weekend ahead of Norway’s upcoming match against Portugal, but this will no longer take place.
As reported by TV2, Haaland has been substituted for Norway’s pre-match press conference by Benfica pair Andreas Schjelderup and Fredrik Aursnes.
Norway’s media manager Morten Skjonsberg is reported to have informed journalists that Haaland will not be participating in press activities this weekend.
“We are making changes to tomorrow’s press conference,” the message is reported to have read. “(Stale) Solbakken, (Fredrik) Aursnes and (Andreas) Schjelderup will be on the ground floor.”
Haaland has previously spoken about the allegations facing City, disclosing that the striker was given assurances the issue would be resolved. “I spoke with the bosses, and in the end, I believe them,” Haaland said in an interview with TIME Magazine in July last year.
“It’s such a tricky situation for me to even sit there and speak about, because I wasn’t really involved in it. So I think the club knows what they’re doing. They will sort it out.”
