Brooke shared a clip which her husband took of her – although the couple couldn’t help but notice something rather freaky when watching it back some time later…
With advanced technology nowadays, it’s pretty standard to document almost every aspect of your life. That means taking more photos and videos which you might either keep in your camera roll or share on social media.
Now one woman shared a clip which her husband took of her – and what should have just been ordinary footage, turned into something many people might call a horror film. Brooke joked the couple were so focused on recording the video that they didn’t notice the giant visitor in the background. She even joked about “burning the house down” after the frightening discovery – so can you see what’s going on?
In the caption, she wrote: “Sorry I’m going to need to burn my house down now he really said. Spooky season.” In her clip, she also added: “POV: You and your husband are so focused on recording the video that you didn’t notice the literal GIANT spider crawling on your lampshade.”
The video shows Brooke organising their kid’s nursery where she was tidying up the ducks and toys. Then moments later, the clip zooms into the real star of the show – a huge spider crawling in the background.
One person in the comments section joked: “Spider wanted you to get his good side.”
When is spider season?
Spider mating season is at its peak in September as Brit households were urged to “remain vigilant” with large horny critters set to invade this month.
Following the scorching heatwaves during July and August, house spiders are poised to “become larger” and appear in greater quantity. The reason it peaks around this time is because male spiders leave their quiet hiding spots to search for females. You’re more likely to see spiders wandering around as they search for a mate.
Most indoor spiders already lived in your home year-round in dark corners, basements, or attics, so it’s not a sudden population explosion.
It also comes as insect behaviour specialist Dee Patel explained people can use a 35p ingredient found in most kitchens to repel spiders.
In a Good Morning Britain segment, Mr Patel explained the very hot summer means there will be a plague of spiders this autumn – because they are cold blooded and it helps them breed more quickly – meaning there will be a lot more.
He said: “We’ve had one of the hottest summers on record in Britain, as you said, and this has actually sped up their development cycles. Spiders are ectotherms, so they have cold blood and the warmth really affects the way they develop.
“So, what we’re seeing is many more of them, quicker successions of generations, and just I love spiders, obviously, so I’m quite happy to see them.”
