An 18-month-old toddler was astonishingly caught on camera apparently escaping from nursery in Brazil and walking alone through the streets to reach his mum at her workplace
This is the jaw-dropping moment an 18-month-old toddler seemingly breaks free from nursery – and walks solo to his mum’s office.
CCTV footage captures the tiny youngster wandering along a street in Braço do Norte, Brazil, entirely on his own. At one stage, he attempts to clamber onto the pavement and takes a tumble before hauling himself back up and pressing on with his trek.
Remarkably, the little one then manages to cover around 50m (55yd) to reach his mum’s workplace. Footage captures him arriving at the building and hammering on the glass door, desperate to get inside. A receptionist notices the toddler before glancing around and realising no adult is accompanying him.
She immediately sweeps him up, carries him indoors and reunites him with his shell-shocked mum, according to NeedToKnow.
The lad’s mother revealed she had left him at nursery at approximately 7.20am. She claimed he managed to slip away shortly after 8.45am.
She explained: “They were in the playground and the playground is close to the entrance.” The nursery was undergoing refurbishment work at the time, with the mother stating its gate was broken.
Local reports revealed vehicles were travelling along a nearby road as the toddler made his way to his mum’s workplace. The youngster has since been transferred to a different nursery.
Police launched an investigation on Monday to determine how the 18-month-old managed to leave unattended and whether any charges should be filed.
The local education department has also opened its own probe. Local official Joana Silva Lessa stated in a release: “The department is taking the appropriate measures and confirms that all relevant administrative and legal action will be taken.”
