Veronika Vovk, 21, who fled Ukraine in 2022, says she has hardly any time for meeting her dream bloke ‘in the wild’ due to her hectic schedule. But she would love to eventually find love
A model claims she’s too hot to find love as shallow blokes only pursue her for her looks – while bashful bachelors are too shy to ask her out.
Veronika Vovk claims the type of man she’d love to date is too scared to woo her thanks to her stunning looks, but those brave enough to approach see her as a trophy. Add into the mix regularly jetting off to Capri, Mykonos and Belgium for long shoots and it leaves little time for meeting her dream fella ‘in the wild’.
The 21-year-old brunette admits she’d love to eventually find her perfect match, but is happily single for now and enjoying the successful lifestyle she’s built for herself.
Veronika, who is now living in Antwerp, Belgium, after fleeing Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2022, said: “I find it hard to date. Men only see me as a model and not as a person, it’s definitely been a barrier for me finding my ideal boyfriend.
“I don’t want someone to date me just because it’s some sort of alpha male status symbol to bag a model. They’re the sort of guys who are brave enough to approach me and ask me out, but that’s not the kind of guy I’m looking for.
“I’m looking forward to having a relationship with a good guy who’s attentive, kind, independent and takes me on fun dates. Sadly my experience has been that this kind of bloke is too shy to shoot their shot and ask me out, so I’ve yet to find my dream man.”
She added: “It’s hard to find a boyfriend when I’m working because I spend a lot of time on set. I don’t use dating apps, I much rather prefer to meet people in person organically.”
The model admits it’s surreal pursuing her dream career while her home country faces war. Veronika, who’s currently working on a Guess campaign, said: “It can feel surreal shooting luxury campaigns knowing what’s going on back home.
“You can be standing on a beautiful set, working with a luxury brand or travelling somewhere incredibly beautiful, while knowing that people you love are living through a war back home.
“Those two realities exist at the same time. I have learned to appreciate every opportunity without feeling that I have to stop living my life.
“I carry Ukraine with me wherever I go and the contrast between my professional life and what is happening at home is something I am always conscious of.
“I sometimes feel guilty about pursuing my career, especially after losing people close to me. There are moments when it feels strange to be travelling, working and living the life I once dreamed about while people my age are fighting and dying.
“The war changed the direction of my life, but I don’t want it to define the limits of my life. I want to keep moving forward, build an international career and show that even after everything Ukraine has been through, its young people still have dreams – and we are determined to make them happen.”
