Mum-of-two Danielle O’Keane has sadly passed away in hospital, where she has been being treated after a tragic incident happened after she had been to a Westlife concert
A young mum who was involved in a horror crash in Dublin after watching Westlife has died from her injuries. Danielle O’Keane , 37, was on her way home from the gig when she was involved in the road traffic collision which left her with a “life ending brain injury”.
Now it has been reported by the Irish Mirror that the mum-of-two has passed away in hospital, where she has been being treated after the tragic incident happened at around 11pm on Saturday night.
Danielle was rushed to the nearby Mater Misericordiae University Hospital after the accident and was placed in Intensive Care on a ventilator.
It was reported how Danielle, from Newry, was heading to Dublin city centre with some friends after having seen Westlife in the 3Arena when the rickshaw she was travelling in hit a curb.
After bravely fighting for her life in hospital for a number of days, Danielle passed away from her injuries on Thursday, October 1.
Her death notice on Funeral Times reads: “O’ Keane (nee Mullan) (Saval, Newry) died 1 October 2026 as the result of an accident.
“Danielle R.I.P. Much loved wife of Dave and dear mother of Caolán and Cillian. Beloved daughter of Michael and Pauline, and dear sister of Barry and her twin Sean. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul.
“Funeral arrangements later. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, children, parents, brothers, sisters in law, brothers in law, mother in law Dolores, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, family circle and friends.”
The local community has since been made to support Danielle’s family over the past week, with over £115,000 raised for her devastated family through a GoFundMe page.
Derek, Danielle’s loving brother-in-law, told the Irish Mirror that she was due to head to Mallorca on Monday for the first family holiday with her two young boys and husband. Derek told how Danielle had a “heart of gold” and was “full of life” with “so much to look forward to”.
“She was the most sweetest girl you’d ever meet in your life, full of life, full of energy, heart of gold,” Derek shared.
