Police ‘search Conor McGregor’ in reference to alleged perjury as affiliate’s cellphone seized

Police investigating alleged perjury in Conor McGregor’s civil appeal have been looking to speak to him after seizing a phone from an associate, according to reports. The Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) has been seeking for some time to try and speak with the Irish mixed martial arts fighter.

But he has not yet met them. McGregor is currently in California recovering from a serious knee injury he received during his fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in July.

It is understood the NBCI seized a mobile phone from an associate of McGregor as part of the probe. The associate has been spoken to by detectives and is now understood to also be out of the country, the Irish Mirror reports.

Sources claimed to the newspaper that investigators are looking to interview McGregor in connection with the probe – and have so far not been able to do so. They are understood to have first reached out in September last year and then again in June 2026.

Mr McGregor’s solicitor Ciaran Mulholland said: “Mr McGregor has been out of the jurisdiction since his UFC Las Vegas fight and remains out of the jurisdiction under medical care and advice in California.

“This office made direct contact with Gardaí last September when this matter was first reported in the media confirming Mr McGregor’s willingness to assist Gardaí with their enquiries as a witness.”

When asked if Mr McGregor will now speak to Gardaí following claims they attempted to speak to him again in June, Mr Mulholland said: “Mr McGregor is willing to assist Gardai and has offered to do this remotely from the US or upon his return to the jurisdiction when he’s medically fit to travel.”

Sources claim officers are looking to speak to McGregor as they further investigate allegations that false statements were made during the course of his appeal of a civil finding that he raped Nikita Hand.

It comes after a couple were charged before Dublin District Court this week with perjury in connection with the case. Samantha O’Reilly, 38, of Ballyfermot, Dublin, is charged with two counts of giving a statement that she knew to be false in Dublin on January 14 and on May 6 last year. Steven Cummins, 39, of Ballyfermot, is charged with one count of giving a false statement that he knew to be false on January 14 last year.

A court heard that O’Reilly was arrested on Tuesday morning and taken to Ballyfermot garda station where she was charged. Gardai did not object to bail.

Judge Michele Finan granted her bail on the condition that she sign on weekly at Ballyfermot Garda Station between 9am and 9pm. She must also remain contactable on a mobile phone and have no contact with any witnesses in the case. The case was put back for a further six weeks and will be heard again on November 9.

Cummins was also bailed with the condition that he sign on to Ballyfermot Garda station on a daily basis, be contactable to gardai 24/7 and to have no contact with any witnesses in the case. His case was also put back to November 9.
