Man discovered useless in home as bomb squad ‘assess and take away substances’

Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 20s was found dead inside a house as Explosive Ordnance Disposal attended the scene as a precaution

A man’s body has tragically been discovered inside a property after paramedics and explosives teams raced to a house. Merseyside Police have confirmed officers were sent to the scene on Saturday (October 3) following the sudden death.

North West Ambulance Service said it alerted police at approximately 3:55pm yesterday after they discovered the body of a man in his 20s. Officers have now opened an investigation, and following preliminary inquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected.

Police revealed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended the location as a precautionary measure to examine and remove substances found within the property. They have confirmed there is no broader threat to the public at this time.

His family has been notified and a file will be forwarded to the Coroner, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “Merseyside Police can confirm that emergency services remain in Oxton today (Sunday 4 October) following a sudden death yesterday.

“Shortly after 3.55pm on Saturday 3 October, North West Ambulance Service reported they had attended a property on Reedville where they had found a man in his 20s sadly deceased inside.

“Merseyside Police has launched an investigation and following initial enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected. His next of kin has been informed and a file will be passed to the Coroner.

“As a precaution, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have attended to assess and remove substances located inside the premises and have deemed there is no wider risk to the public at this stage.”
