S&M lawyer Ryan Hemphill faces new charges after allegedly subjecting a woman to a horrific seven-hour electric shock and waterboarding torture ordeal
A sick S&M-obsessed lawyer allegedly subjected a woman to a horrifying seven-hour torture ordeal inside his high-rise apartment, according to harrowing court documents. Ryan Hemphill has been accused of attacking seven women with US prosecutors citing a string of stomach-churning sexual perversions.
The attorney, who is currently behind bars at New York’s notorious Rikers Island, was slapped with a fresh 41-count indictment at Manhattan Supreme Court after another woman came forward. He was already facing a 116-count indictment over allegations he sexually assaulted six other women with cattle prods, shock collars, and waterboarding between October 2024 and March 2025.
Hemphill, 43, is no stranger to public scandal, having previously made headlines in 2013 when he was cleared by a jury after being accused of choking and assaulting his then-girlfriend during a knifepoint encounter.
Prosecutors say the latest alleged victim turned up at his Midtown apartment in spring 2024 expecting cash for sex after meeting the twisted legal eagle on the SugarDaddy app, reports the New York Post.
But Hemphill “was planning something else entirely,” Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer told the court.
Detailing the harrowing incident, Curzer told the judge: “He threatened her with a knife to keep her from resisting, tied her to his bed…burned her with a hot object. He forced her to wear an electric shock collar on her neck.
“He also forced her into the bathtub where he repeatedly held her head in the water, pulling her up right before she lost consciousness, and then went to submerge her again and again.”
The grim marathon of abuse only ended when he allegedly forced the terrified woman to record a video claiming she wanted to be raped – a horrific tactic prosecutors say he used on multiple victims.
Curzer added: “The video itself shows how false that is. The victim is clearly terrified and [he is] actively abusing her while she speaks.”
Hemphill, the son of a prominent neurologist, allegedly recorded the footage to blackmail his targets and “kept them as trophies,” according to US court filings.
Court papers state the creep also bombarded victims with unhinged text messages, boasting he had links to organised crime and the police to keep them quiet. He then allegedly handed over fake cash or refused to pay them altogether.
Wearing rosary beads around his neck in court, Hemphill is claimed to have convinced his latest victim that going to the authorities would be “pointless,” suggesting he had high-level government connections that rendered him “powerful and untouchable.”
The woman went to cops after spotting media coverage of his initial arrest. Hemphill was originally arrested in March 2025 after detectives uncovered dozens of video recordings, hidden surveillance cameras, illegal drugs and high-capacity ammo.
Yet the unrepentant suspect appeared completely unfazed by the fresh charges, casually chirping “nice to see you again” to a press photographer inside the courtroom.
He entered a plea of not guilty to the new charges, which include rape and predatory sexual assault.
Condemning the accused, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg branded the alleged offences “absolutely horrific.”
Bragg said: “I am grateful for this survivor’s bravery in coming forward, despite the defendant’s alleged attempts to convince her that a coerced videoed statement would make him impossible to prosecute.”
