A nine-year-old girl has tragically died in a horror crash. Police are now appealing for information following the fatal smash on the A813 which happened around 5.30pm on Wednesday. Police Scotland were called to the collision involving Volkswagen Polo and a Ford Ranger between Drumnadrochit and Cannich.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended and a nine-year-old girl, who was a rear passenger in the VW Polo, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the VW Polo and front seat passenger were taken to Raigmore hospital for treatment. The road was closed for seven hours to allow enquiries to be carried out.
Sergeant Kate Finlayson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the girl who died, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicles prior to contact us. I would also ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dashcam footage that could assist to please get in touch.”

The force said in a statement: “We are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the A813. Around 5.30pm on Wednesday, 7 October, 2026, we received a report of a collision involving a Volkswagen Polo and a Ford Ranger between Drumnadrochit and Cannich.
