National Highways confirmed the multi-vehicle collision on the M62 near Huddersfield which resulted in five people being left injured before the motorway reopened
Five people have been left injured following a serious crash on a major motorway this morning (Friday). One car is believed to be on its roof following the smash which involved “multiple vehicles”.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the M62 after the incident, where they discovered nine casualties. The motorway near Huddersfield was shut eastbound between junctions 22 and 23 following the collision.
Delays continued after the carriageway reopened, with long traffic queues seen on CCTV cameras. National Highways said: “All lanes have now reopened. All vehicles involved have been recovered and debris has been cleared. There are residual delays of 40 mins between J21 and J22.”
Nine casualties were involved in total in this morning’s crash on the M62, with five of them receiving treatment from Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
Their condition has not been officially confirmed, but it’s thought the victims are not seriously injured.
Meanwhile, the M6 is also experiencing long delays near Manchester after a crash involving multiple lorries on the southbound carriageway.
Inrix states: “Two lanes closed and slow traffic due to accident, multiple lorries involved on M6 Southbound from J19 A556 (Knutsford) to J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel).
“Lanes one and two (of four) are closed.”
