Amy Ginger Hart, 35, makes a lot of money by showing off her hairy body. She stopped shaving her body years ago, and now it seems that men can’t get enough of her distinct look
A woman has confessed she hasn’t shaved for years, but men are said to be drawn to her hairy body. Amy Ginger Hart, 35, who prefers to be known as Hart, boasts over 700,000 followers on Instagram, and she’s recently opened up about how her body hair is massively helping her career.
She stopped shaving in her mid-twenties after years of feeling like being hairless was simply expected of women. Since embracing her natural body hair, she said she’s become “way, way more successful” in her saucy career, with around one in four of her custom requests now focused specifically on it.
It’s not the first time such a story has emerged either. Previously, someone else opened up about what it’s like to sell hairy nudes.
When it comes to Hart, however, she said she charges around $100 (roughly £75) a minute for videos and claims she can easily make $1,000 (£756.07) a day from them, with fans requesting everything from close-ups of her armpit hair to videos of her running her fingers through it.
Hart, from the US, estimates around half of her subscribers are particularly attracted to her body hair and says many would actually be upset if she shaved it off. “It never would have crossed my mind that my body hair would become this popular,” she said.
“I will say that from the period of time where I was removing all my body hair, compared to now where I don’t, I am way, way more successful.
“I always hated shaving. I remember one of my older sisters showing me how to shave my legs when I was around 12, and just thinking ‘ugh, I don’t like this’.
“I found it unnatural and unsettling. It was something I thought I was required to do, no matter how much I hated it. It irritated my skin and felt so uncomfortable.
“I stopped in my 20s because I just had so many other things I would rather do with that time and I was on a self-love journey. I started becoming more self-actualised and just lost the motivation to appear ‘acceptable’ at the cost of my own ease in my body.
“I realised anyone who was going to be put off by something as silly as hair wasn’t my cup of tea anyway, so why keep trying to please those people? I think becoming a sex worker contributed to that mindset as well – plenty of people were already going to be upset or disgusted by who I was choosing to be, so what was the harm in giving them one more thing to get worked up about?”
Now it’s been at least five years since Hart last shaved her legs. She admits to trimming her armpits and private parts every few months, but she only does what she needs to do to maintain the areas.
According to her, people either love it or hate it. Even so, she admitted people tend to have “strong reactions” to her body either way.
“For some people it’s disgusting, and a sign that I don’t take care of myself,” she added. “For others it’s the most goddess-like attribute imaginable and all they want is to worship at the altar of bush.
“In my real life, no one mentions it. In my community – which is 99% queer people – having body hair is actually the norm.”
Hart also confessed that having more body hair has been “amazing” for her business. For a lot of people, she claims it brings the “shock factor”.
She added: “Photos showing my body hair tend to go viral because people have such a visceral reaction to seeing it and they just have to comment, and that drives engagement. Even hate comments can be great for business!
“The first messages I receive from so many of my subscribers are about my body hair and how it drew them in. I’ve had extremely powerful men make serious relationship proposals to me based on Instagram photos showing my armpits, and a bit of my bush peeking out of my bikini.
“For the men who love it, it’s the most erotic and womanly thing to them. I also think the combination of being a redhead and being hairy makes me fairly unique in the industry.
“Bright orange pubic hair is a bit of a unicorn in the landscape of adult content. I think people crave novelty, so whether or not it’s someone’s particular fetish it piques curiosity and gets people clicking through.”
