Plans to reopen and rebrand 110 former Whitbread sites include Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and Cookhouse venues. Queensway Inns plans 53 value pubs, while Common Table Group plans to secure 57 sites, with its first opening planned for mid-November
Hundreds of former Beefeater and Brewers Fayre venues are poised to relaunch across the UK. The premises, which shuttered as part of a corporate restructuring, will be transformed under a fresh chain of pubs and hospitality venues.
It’s understood that a combined 110 former Whitbread-owned locations have been snapped up by Queensway Inns and Common Table Group. The development follows Whitbread’s choice to scrap multiple chains in an effort to slash expenses.
The firm, which operates Premier Inn, cautioned that Rachel Reeves ‘ 2025 budget tax measures would inflict considerable financial pressure. Consequently, around 261 venues shuttered this September, with roughly 3,800 positions axed.
According to Queensway Inns, the 53 locations it rescued from permanent closure will be converted into a fresh series of “value pubs,” potentially placing over 900 staff into new positions, reports the Express.
Common Table Group revealed it intended to acquire 57 Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and Cookhouse-branded venues, with the agreement also encompassing a Premier Inn hotel.
The group confirmed that all locations would commence trading as quickly as possible, with the inaugural opening scheduled for mid-November, the Sun reports
The venues are anticipated to continue as restaurants with diners and hotel patrons able to select from an all-day food and beverage menu. Over 700 positions will also be generated from the relaunches.
