Police have given a major update on the victim of a fatal tiger attack at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster as they believe the man had visited the zoo alone. The unnamed victim, who witnesses described as being autistic or having learning difficulties, was not being accompanied by family or carers, like many have speculated online following the incident on Saturday (October 10).

Emergency services were contacted shortly after 1.30pm on October 10 when the man entered the enclosure and was set upon by the tiger. He was pronounced dead at the scene, South Yorkshire Police have said, adding that his family have been informed.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “It is not believed that the man who died at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park was being accompanied by anybody.”
