Big Brother followers model Gemma Collins’ return a ‘big waste of cash’ as she leaves the home after simply 48 hours

Gemma Collins‘s long-awaited return to the Big Brother came to an early end on Monday, as viewers saw her leave after just 48 hours.

Despite much fanfare around the TOWIE star’s arrival on Friday, fans were disappointed to see her say farewell to the housemates less than two days after she arrived, branding her stint a ‘huge waste of money’.

Gemma’s arrival had come with several demands for bosses, including her own room and toilet, and it had been hoped she would stir up more drama among the housemates or offer her no-nonsense opinions.

But instead, viewers simply saw Gemma host several tasks and parties for the housemates, before making an abrupt exit through the Diary Room.

Given she no doubt received a hefty payday for her time in the house, fans took to social media to criticise her short stint.

They said: ‘Gemma should have been in there for longer; Gemma really got a quick cheque I don’t blame her but the producers could’ve gave us Late & Live;

‘Genuinely wtf was the point in Gemma going in?’

‘Ngl I love Gemma Collins but she hasn’t done much in her two days…;’

‘So Gemma came in, got into bed, hosted two budget friendly tasks, and a couple of ”parties” and then left through the fire exit. I feel like we’ve missed a lot of opportunities with this one…’

‘Mission accomplished, says Gemma. Not sure what the mission was, turned the house into a borefest;’

‘And the point of sending Gemma Collins in what was what exactly…’

‘I love Gemma but honestly what was the point.’

Speaking to Big Brother in the Diary Room, Gemma said being back in the house was ‘a moment in her life she’d treasure forever’.

After returning to the house, Gemma also reflected on the death of her mother Joan, as she tearfully shared she died just a day before she was due to marry her fiancé Rami Hawash.

Speaking to some of the housemates in the garden, celebrity house guest Gemma said: ‘She was an amazing woman and I had an amazing 45 years with her. I was with her every day.

‘I was meant to get married on the Thursday and my mum passed away on the Wednesday. What can you do?’

Trying to make light of the devastating situation, Gemma said: ‘To be honest, it was all a rush anyway. I ordered a dress off Shein. It would not have gone down well.’

Gemma was the second celebrity house guest to join the show this series, after her longtime pals Jedward briefly entered the house during the second week last month.

Big Brother continues on Tuesday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
