A British Airways flight bound for Portugal turned back to Gatwick after reports that one of the plane’s passenger windows cracked. Flight BA2660 was headed for Faro in Portugal, when the emergency unfolded on Tuesday morning.

The Airbus A321-231 was forced to abandon its journey and made a U-turn shortly after passing Brittany in France roughly an hour into the trip, according to flight-tracking data. AirNav Radar raised the alarm after the BA EuroFlyer service declared an emergency and prepared to divert.

They wrote on X: “A passenger window is cracked. Flight deck going through checks before deciding where to divert.”

Aviation news outlet AirLive claimed pilots had spotted “structural damage to a window panel on the right side of the aircraft”.

The jet took off from Gatwick at around 9am before pilots reportedly issued a general emergency. Flightradar24 later showed the aircraft heading towards London Gatwick. The details of the emergency have not been officially confirmed.
