British motorsport star Jack Harvey has been diagnosed with cancer – and the racer made the news public with a defiant statement
A British motorsport star has opened up on his cancer diagnosis with a defiant statement. Jack Harvey, 33, revealed the devastating news with a statement on social media.
In a post on Tuesday, the IndyCar driver said: “Life has delivered a new fight to my doorstep. I have recently been diagnosed with cancer. My entire career has been about fighting for what’s next.
“The next opportunity. The next chance to prove myself. The next time I could get back in the car and show what I’m capable of. But through all of it, I’ve never stopped believing that there was something worth fighting for.”

Harvey remains determined to compete in next year’s Indianapolis 500: “My goals for 2027 have not changed,” he declared before outlining his determination to be on the start line for next season’s opener.
He added: “I am receiving excellent care and support from the team around me, my family, friends, DRR, FOX, IndyCar, and many more. I’ve never backed away from a challenge in my life and this circumstance is no different. So… Let’s fight.”
And well-wishes have been sent in his comments section with former F1 driver Nyck De Vries replying: “My karting hero! Always a fighter, just another race, let’s go!”
“Imagine the movie they’re gunna (sic) make about your 500 win after this,” former IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe said. While Mick Schumacher responded: “We’re all with you! You got this!”
Fellow driver Conor Daly replied: “We’re with you brother, you got this.” And Chip Ganassi Racing added: “Sending all of our support.”
Harvey made his IndyCar debut in 2017, with his best overall finish coming in 2021, when he placed 13th. However, before making it to IndyCar he was the British Formula 3 champion in 2012.
