Kyle Kennedy died at the age of just 42 and is survived by her town sons, 12-year-old Conor and Declan, 10.
The granddaughter of Robert ‘Bobby’ Kennedy has died at the age of 42. Kyle Kennedy died on September 21 at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts, USA.
The teacher was born to Michael Kennedy and Victoria Denise Gifford on July 6, 1984 in Washington DC. Her cause of death has not been confirmed.
Kyle committed her life to early childhood learning and worked on educational reform for disadvantaged children and people with disabilities. Her career began in New York City on the Teach For America programme after she graduated college.
She graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in History before going on to earn a Master of Science in Early Education from Pace University and a Master of Education in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
The activist teacher married Liam Kerr at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston in August 2012. They have two children together. Kyle gave birth to twins Conor and Josie first but the girl tragically died days later.
Two years later they celebrated the birth of their second son Declan. Kyle’s obituary refers to Kerr as her “former husband”.
In Kyle’s final years, she suffered long-term paralysis due to a severe spinal cord injury she sustained in 2020. This led to her becoming an advocate for people living with disabilities.
Social media users were quick to point out the so-called “Kennedy curse”. One wrote: “The Kennedy family has gone through so much grief.”
Another said: “How terribly sad.” While a third simply said: “Cursed family”.
