Arsenal have maintained their undefeated record in the Champions League with a draw in Germany – and it’s thanks to two moments from Mikel Arteta
Arsenal remain undefeated in the Champions League this season after the navigating a trip to Germany. The Allianz Arena is a tough away journey at the best times – but even more so when Bayern Munich are running on a golden vein of form.
The Gunners, however, had managed to take the lead through Eberechi Eze, who had replaced Bukayo Saka after an early injury. Alphonso Davies levelled the game before half-time, allowing Harry Kane to fire Bayern ahead from the spot in the 61st minute.
The hosts looked to be cruising to another win, but a beautiful attacking move from Mikel Arteta’s side pegged them back as the game ended in a stalemate.

Arteta’s side have been playing more on the front foot this season – and that could be seen when the Spaniard threw the big Swede into the mix while they were trailing the game.
The equaliser was a lovely team move, but it could only have been possible with Gyokeres on the pitch, and not Kai Havertz. The Swede was able to match Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah physically, and he held the ball up for an onrushing Rice.
Rice smashed the ball past Neuer as the Gunners side wheeled off to celebrate.
Ultimately the result will be overshadowed by the events of the first couple of minutes. Saka had been named in the starting side by Arteta, but was soon forced off the pitch with an apparent quad injury.
Saka had tried to play a pass outside the Bayern box, immediately feeling his quad as he hit the deck. Reports then suggest he pointed at it as he headed down the tunnel.
The Englishman was quickly replaced by Eberechi Eze, who had lost his place in the starting line-up to Noni Madueke after his winner at Nottingham Forest last weekend.
