For parents looking to go on holiday with their little ones, easyJet has shared a travel update. The move forms part of a fresh scheme designed to make jetting off with babies more straightforward, while also helping families cut costs on their baby’s first trip abroad.

A standard child’s passport in the UK, including for infants, costs £66.50 when applied online, or £80 via paper application. But in welcome news for mums and dads, easyJet and easyJet holidays have revealed they’ll foot the £66.50 bill for newborn babies’ passports.

Parents who book an easyJet holiday can take advantage of the offer, provided they’ve made their reservation by November 26. The initiative aims to make travelling with young families as easy as possible, while helping to save some extra cash. It follows research by the airline and tour operator, which revealed that 75 per cent of parents said having their baby’s passport covered would make a holiday feel more budget-friendly.

The easyJet study also found that 4 in 5 parents viewed their baby’s first holiday as a defining family moment, with over half describing it as one of their proudest parental milestones. Additionally, 47 per cent of parents stated that taking their kids abroad makes them more inquisitive about the world, with easyJet holidays recording a 10 per cent rise in the number of babies travelling this year compared to 2025, reports the Mirror.

With easyJet covering the cost of the baby passport when families book a holiday through them, parents simply need to get an approved passport photo sorted. Nearly a quarter of mums and dads surveyed revealed it took roughly six goes to nail the perfect snap, while almost one in 10 confessed they had no idea their little one needed a passport until holiday planning kicked off.

Although getting a baby passport photo can be tricky, parents can take one at home with their smartphones and upload it online, provided it meets all the requirements set out in HM Passport Office’s official guidelines. Definitely a far simpler option than taking a baby to the passport booth down at the local supermarket.

What’s more, families can check out easyJet’s new short film on the Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle Parenting YouTube channel, featuring easyJet Captain Kate West, a new mum herself, alongside Mummy Pig and the gang. The video offers guidance to parents on capturing a baby passport photo, plus handy hints for flying abroad with tiny tots.

Captain Kate commented: “We carry millions of families across Europe every year, and we know that travelling with a baby brings a whole series of exciting firsts. We want to make travel as easy and accessible as possible for everyone, including young families, so they can enjoy all the experiences and memories that travel can bring. We hope that covering the cost of a baby’s first passport goes a small way towards making that first family adventure a little easier and gives our youngest travellers a warm welcome to the world.”
