A non-league football club has been forced to issue an apology after footage appeared to show a Magic Mike-style male strip show at the club’s function suite spiralling into something far more explicit. Southern Premier League side Banbury United – nicknamed “The Puritans” – rents out The Spencer Clubhouse at its TUGO Community Stadium on the eastern edge of the quiet Oxfordshire town, marketing it as a venue where “dreams come to life” for weddings, birthday parties and corporate events.

But the club is now facing a local backlash after the UK Pleasure Boys’ “Wet & Wild” tour stopped at the clubhouse last Saturday (October 17).

Videos circulating on social media appear to show the dancers leaving the stage and heading into the crowd during the 18+ ticketed event – with allegations that the performance crossed the line into simulated or even actual sex acts involving audience members.

One source familiar with the night said the scenes were hardly unusual when “mums” finally get a rare evening off. “I’ve worked in hospitality for a long time. Whenever these events happen the women just go nuts – particularly the mums,” they said.

“I guess if it is your one night out in God knows how long, you are going to need to let off some steam.” The clips have sparked a furious debate among Banbury locals online, with some insisting punters knew exactly what they were paying for – and others saying they expected cheeky fun, not X-rated antics, the Daily Mail reported.

One person wrote: “I went! With the expectation of a full Monty style strip show with maybe a flash of some goods at the end, not a porn show!!

“It was Banbury Utd club house not a strip club… absolutely ruined the night as it was a great laugh until it wasn’t.” Another hit back: “If anyone who went was surprised or offended they really shouldn’t have bought a ticket in the first place!”

A third added: “It was an absolute laugh an were booking again next year… yes some part of it was like wooah but it clearly stated strippers.” But one critic claimed: “From what I’m hearing and seeing all over social media it sounds like a strip show turned into a Roman orgy!”

In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon (October 20), Banbury United said: “We are aware of video clips circulating online… The images suggest that part of the performance towards the end went beyond what we find acceptable at our venue.

“We apologise to anyone in attendance who was offended… We are reviewing what happened and will revise our hire and conduct terms for performance events as a result.”

The show was promoted by an external organiser as part of a UK-wide tour. Adrenalin Promotions, behind the UK Pleasure Boys, has reportedly launched an internal investigation.
