‘Rock legends, stay music and a rooftop occasion make for an evening to recollect’

OPINION: We went to Hard Rock Cafe expecting dinner but got a whole lot more, as rock anthems, surprise dancing and rooftop live music turned the night into a proper party

If you think Hard Rock Cafe is just somewhere to grab a burger, think again. Our visit to the famous music-themed restaurant turned into a full-blown night out, complete with rock anthems, surprise performances and a rooftop party.

We headed to Hard Rock Cafe Tenerife, where the experience began before we’d even sat down. The venue was decked out with memorabilia from rock legends, giving the restaurant the feel of a shrine to music history, while the banging soundtrack made it impossible not to get swept up in the atmosphere.

We were greeted by warm and welcoming staff, with our server AJ quickly becoming part of the experience. Full of charisma, he kept the drinks flowing and the good vibes going, recommending a Passionfruit Mai Tai and a Bahama Mama. Both cocktails hit the spot and proved to be the perfect way to kick off the evening.

When it came to the food, we kicked things off with two generous servings of chicken wings to share – and they quickly stole the show. We sampled both the Buffalo and Gochujang flavours.

The Buffalo had that delicious punch of heat, while the Gochujang brought a gorgeous sweet-and-spicy kick. Both were bursting with flavour, beautifully coated in sauce and so tender the meat practically fell off the bone. They were seriously moreish, leaving us reaching back into the basket for just one more. If you’re visiting, these are an absolute must-order.

For mains, we really pushed the boat out, ordering the New York strip steak, BBQ pork ribs and pulled pork burger so we could get a taste of the variety on offer. It was a proper feast, with each dish bringing something different to the table.

The steak offered a classic, hearty option, while the BBQ ribs were a tempting choice for anyone who loves a big, satisfying plate of comfort food. The pulled pork burger rounded things off nicely, making for a seriously indulgent line-up.

And just when we thought we couldn’t manage another bite, dessert arrived. We ordered the hot fudge brownie, which was rich, chocolatey and generously sized – easily enough for everyone to dig into. It was the perfect sweet finish to an already brilliant meal.

But just as we were settling into our final course, dinner took an unexpected turn.

The staff launched into a surprise performance of Queen’s We Will Rock You, bringing the restaurant to life. Before I knew it, I was being whisked away to join the spectacle, dancing along to YMCA in front of the entire restaurant. It was a completely unexpected moment and one of those experiences you don’t forget in a hurry.

And somehow, the night was only getting started.

With our bellies full, we headed upstairs to The Top, Hard Rock’s stylish rooftop cocktail bar. There, talented singer Juraj was showing off his impressive vocals with a set packed with classic crowd-pleasers. The atmosphere was brilliant, with guests singing along and getting up to dance as the terrace transformed into a lively party.

After finishing his set with an encore, Juraj handed over to the DJ, who kept the music going until late. We had arrived expecting dinner, but ended up dancing along to an entire evening of entertainment.

There’s something pretty surreal about partying on top of such an iconic building, especially when you weren’t expecting anything beyond a meal. Hard Rock Cafe Tenerife really does offer the full package – food, drinks and live music all under one roof.

Before heading off, we couldn’t resist a browse around the Rock Shop® collection. Packed with Hard Rock memorabilia and branded keepsakes, it was the perfect place to pick up a little reminder of the night.

Whether you’re a music fan, a cocktail lover or simply after somewhere that offers more than the usual restaurant experience, Hard Rock Cafe Tenerife delivers.

We arrived expecting dinner and left having danced, sung and soaked up an atmosphere more like a live gig. If you’re after a restaurant with a serious rock ‘n’ roll spirit, this one certainly hits all the right notes.
