John Woodward, 52, has shared the gruesome details of his life as one of the UK’s hardest working strippers – and defended his adult entertainment business
A veteran stripper needed medical intervention when a sexy show got out of hand. John Woodward, 52, has regaled his nastiest tales from 30 years of tearing his clothes off in front of raucous British women.
John, who now manages the UK Pleasure Boys stripping ensemble after hanging up his velcro trousers, has left the stage battered and bruised but one occasion saw him needing medical attention.
“I had to go to get a tetanus injection once,” he told the Daily Mail. “This lady bit me down there because she thought it was a prosthetic and then it wouldn’t stop bleeding.”
He has also been left with claw marks all over his body and bite marks on his nipples but none of these were the most painful experience. He explained: “‘That wasn’t even the worst pain, though – that was when I was poked sharply in the belly button by a long fingernail. That really winded me.
He continued: “I’ve had nails jabbed in other places too, places they had no business being, but it’s part of the job. You’ve got to try to create an exciting show and do it without getting injured or letting the audience go too far.”
However, he adds that most of his clients just want to “unwind and enjoy a drink with their mates”.
John’s troop of brawny blokes landed in a bit of hot water recently when footage from a “Wet ’n’ Wild” show in Oxfordshire went viral on social media.
Non-league team Banbury FC, who hosted the Pleasure Boys in their clubhouse, issued an apology after “part of the performance towards the end went beyond what we find acceptable”.
They added: “We apologise to anyone in attendance who was offended.”
John was there on the night and carried out a review of the incident as part of his role of director of the UK Pleasure Boys. And the veteran entertainer says the video clips were “edited to take things out of context completely”.
After videos from the night circulated online, social media users were outraged with one eyewitness reportedly describing it as “the closest thing to an orgy I have ever seen”.
However, John is adamant that it “wasn’t an orgy” as he explained the three incidents fuelled the online fury; a woman “reached up and did something that was not acceptable” to a performer dancing on a table, another performer was seen hovering over a woman on the floor; and a woman used a man’s appendage as a microphone to sing along to the music.
John said: “It wasn’t an orgy – the rest of the crowd was just normal. It was all pretty standard stuff, you know.”
