Donald Trump has asked UFC boss Dana White to become his next White House press secretary, urging him to bring top fighters along to take on the media
Donald Trump has sensationally asked UFC supremo Dana White to take over the White House briefing room. The US Commander-in-Chief took to Truth Social to reveal the bizarre job proposal, claiming the cage-fighting kingpin is a “violent Fighter and Warrior” perfectly suited to the brutal gig.
Trump announced online: “I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States.”
Not stopping there, the former reality star-turned-president insisted the mixed martial arts titan bring an entire squad of Octagon legends along for backup to keep reporters in line.
Trump added: “I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other.”
Clearly desperate to seal the deal with his long-time pal, Trump pleaded at the end of the post: “Dana, please take the job!”
The jaw-dropping offer follows the abrupt sacking of previous podium chief Katie Zacharia, who was ruthlessly booted from the role just five days into her tenure after taking over from Karoline Leavitt.
A former right-wing pundit and adviser for Truth Social’s parent firm, Zacharia was instantly tossed into the firing line following an excruciating five-minute debut briefing.
Further chaos ensued after awkward questions about whether her legal credentials were real.
Trump’s wild pitch comes hot on the heels of a brutal US midterm election bloodbath that saw his Republican allies battered at the ballot box and stripped of their grip on Congress.
Whether White will step into the ring as press chief remains unclear, but the fight boss set tongues wagging almost immediately.
Taking to his Instagram story right after Trump went public, he posted a snap of himself at the famous White House briefing podium captioned: “On to the next chapter”.
He followed the cheeky teaser with another post showing a screenshot of the president’s glowing statement.
The pair have been close in recent years, with White even staging an unprecedented UFC bout on the White House South Lawn earlier this summer for America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
The scrap came at a staggering cost, with Andrew Schleimer, chief executive of UFC’s parent firm, admitting they took a brutal $30million (£22.4m) hit on the spectacle.
