Marcus Rashford hits back at Roy Keane and critics of Man Utd star’s ‘body language’

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has hit back at Roy Keane and others who have criticised his attitude this season.

Rashford’s had a turbulent few seasons at Old Trafford and United legend Keane has been one of the striker’s harshest critics. One of Keane’s gripes is that he feels Rashford exudes a surly attitude when things don’t go his way.

The 24-year-old felt Keane’s wrath once again last week when the Red Devils lost 6-3 to rivals Manchester City. After the debacle, the Irishman fumed: “Really shocking. Shrugging his shoulders when things weren’t going his way. You roll your sleeves up at Manchester United.”

But Rashford has come out swinging and explained that it’s normal for him to look disappointed when United are losing because he has high expectations for himself and his team-mates. He said, via the Daily Mail: “There have been times I was disappointed but that’s normal, isn’t it?

“We are all players who like to win, that is the reason we play for Man United. We have such high expectations of ourselves and each other. Ask any of us and we’re not happy to lose or even draw.

Rashford has lashed out at Keane and others who have blasted his body language at times this season

“I’ve played a lot of games and experienced a lot of different things. At Man United, we expect to win the majority of the matches.”

But Rashford seems to have turned a corner following his double in United’s win over Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League this week. Rashford will be hoping to repeat his midweek heroics in United’s Prem game against Everton on Sunday evening.

A win over the Toffees will see the seventh placed United move into fifth ahead of Brighton and Newcastle. And Rashford’s feeling optimistic about the looming match although he acknowledges it won’t be an easy game against Frank Lampard’s side.

He added: “I’ve won there, I have also come away disappointed. Mixed emotions but this weekend, hopefully it will be a good performance and a big win.”
