Frozen penis skier makes comeback one year after brutal Winter Olympics ordeal

The Finnish skier who suffered a frozen penis at the Winter Olympics has made a spectacular comeback one year on from the ordeal.

Remi Lindholm hit the headlines with his horrendous misfortune in Beijing last year but his performances on the ice are now doing the talking once again.

Fully thawed from his frozen troubles, Lindholm is enjoying a hot streak and secured a stunning victory at the 15km skiing championship last month.

And the 25-year-old can now put the “unbearable” trauma of last year behind him as he reigned supreme in a 169-strong field in the intermediate event.

Lindholm’s injury transcended the sport last year when stunned fans learned that he had frozen his genitals mid-race during a 50-kilometre cross-country.

He was a man simply nobody envied as his sensitive area froze amid brutal temperatures that dropped below -17 degrees Celcius in the Chinese capital.

Lindholm had suffered the horrific injury before

The cross-country course had been shortened by 20km due to fears of frostbite but that was not enough to prevent Lindholm from freezing his appendage.

In dangerously cold, howling winds, Lindholm spent over an hour battling the course before succumbing to the pain, still managing to cross the line in 28th position.

And he was forced to use a heat pack to thaw out his genitals, with racers offered little protection from the elements with the thin layers worn on the course.

“You can guess which body part was a little bit frozen when I finished,’ Lindholm told Finnish media after the race.

“It was one of the worst competitions I’ve been in. It was just about battling through… when the body parts started to warm up after the finish, the pain was unbearable.’

Remarkably, it was the second time Lindholm had suffered the sensitive injury as his penis suffered a similar fate in his native Finland the year before.

But he will be hoping to continue making headlines for clutching onto gold medals rather than heat packs as he plots another attempt at Winter Olympic success in 2026.
