Man Utd Treble winner has job at Barcelona and is unrecognisable from Red Devils days

Former Manchester United treble winner Jordi Cruyff looks completely unrecognisable after returning to the Camp Nou as a sporting advisor.

The son of footballing icon Johan, Jordi made 58 appearances for the Red Devils during a four-year spell at Old Trafford and was a part of the club’s famed treble-winning side of 1999. However, the Dutchman spent the back end of the campaign out on loan at Celta Vigo and so missed out on the celebrations in Catalunya after United turned the game around with two quick-fire goals in stoppage time.

Known for his bright-coloured blonde hair at the Theatre of Dreams, Cruyff’s luscious locks have since evaporated with the silky playmaker now sporting a glossy bald head.

Cruyff also exhibited his curly barnet whilst on the books at Barcelona, following in his father’s footsteps by transferring from boyhood club Ajax to the bright lights of the Camp Nou. Though Cruyff Jr was always in the shadow of the three-time Ballon d’Or winner and was flogged for a measly £1.4million after failing to live to up expectations.

Yet, the midfielder was welcomed back to Barca with open arms at the end of his playing career, joining the club as a sporting advisor. Now seen as the right-hand man to President Joan Laporta, Cruyff will be hoping Barca can push on with another treble of their own as the Catalans welcome Man Utd in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Starting out the season in the Champions League, Barca were drawn in the ‘group of death’ alongside European giants Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, who finished first and second in Group C respectively. A third-placed spot sees the La Liga leaders enter the Europa League Round of 16 stage, where they have been pitted against Group E runners-up Man Utd.

The first leg of the mouthwatering tie takes place at the Camp Nou this evening before the return fixture on February 23.
